DHAKA: Election Commission (EC) has fixed December 22 for holding Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) election.

According to the election schedule, candidates will be allowed to submit their nomination papers till November 24.

Scrutinizing of the papers will be held on November 26 and 27 and candidates can withdraw their nomination papers by December 4.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed made the announcement at EC media center in city on Monday (November 14).

Election commissioners Abu Hafiz, Jebed Ali and Mohammad Shahnewaz and EC secretary Mohammad Abdullah were present during the announcement.

CEC said EC deputy secretary Mohammad Nuruzzaman Talukdar will carry out his duties as returning officer during the polls.

According to him, a total of 479,392 persons will cast their votes on the election day.
