DHAKA: Cox’s Bazar-4 constituency MP Abdur Rahman Bodi has filed an appeal with the High Court (HC) against his three-year imprisonment verdict in a graft case.
Lawyer Nasrin Siddiqua Lina confirmed the matter to Banglanews on Tuesday (November 15).
She said the appeal was filed on November 10 against the verdict pronounced by the Dhaka Special Judge Court-3 Abu Ahmed Jamadar on November 2 for hiding wealth information.
They will also seek bail, she added.
The court also fined the convict Tk 10-lakh, in default, three months’ jail.
Earlier on August 21, 2014, Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) deputy director Abdus Sobhan filed the lawsuit with city’s Ramna Thana.
According to the case statement, Bodi submitted false statement to the election commission about his wealth before the general elections in 2008 and 2013.
He had hidden the information about the wealth of Tk 10.87 crore.
