NARAYANGANJ: Election Commission (EC) officials endorsed the nomination papers of eight Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) polls candidates, including ruling Awami League (AL) candidate Selina Hayat Ivy and opposition BNP candidate Advocate Sakhawat Hossain Khan as legal.

The other legal candidates are Jatiya Party (JP)’s Mesbah Uddin Bhulu, Workers Party’s Advocate Mahbubur Rahman Ismail, Islami Andalon’s Mufti Masum Billah, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD)’s Moslem Uddin, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP)’s Kamal Pradhan and Kalyan Party’s Rashed Ferdous.

The EC announced the legality of the candidates on Sunday (November 27), on the second day of scrutinizing the nomination papers.

Returning officer Nuruzzaman Talukdar told Banglanews that legal action will be taken against the legal candidates if they violate any election rule.

Earlier, nine persons submitted their nomination papers for mayoral post for the NCC polls to be held on December 22.
