Tarique asked to surrender in 3 extortion cases

DHAKA: The High Court (HC) has asked BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman to surrender before the trial court within one month in three extortion cases.

Moreover, the court has withdrawn stay order on five other cases.

An HC bench of Justice Kazi Rezaul Haque and Justice Mohammad Ullah passed the order on Tuesday (November 29).

According to the lawyers, the order will pave the way to continue the trial process of five cases filed against the BNP leader.

Earlier in 2007, two tax evasion and three extortion cases were filed with Shahbagh, Kafrul and Gulshan thanas against Tarique Rahman.
