2 Jamaat leaders charged with sedition

DHAKA: A Dhaka court framed charges against two leaders of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami in a sedition case.

The leaders are Tasnim Alam, central committee publicity secretary of Jamaat and Jasim Uddin.

Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge Jahrul Haque passed the order on Wednesday after hearing.

On February 5, Uttara (West) police station SI Firoz Alam filed case.

As pre case statement, Jamaat-Shibir members were holding a secret meeting in city’s Uttara sector-10 area on December 17 in 2012, to plan for conducting subversive acts in the country.

Acting on tip off, RAB and police, in a joint drive, held the two Jamaat leaders.

Later, Jasim Uddin was released on bail while Tasnim Alam remained imprisoned.
