BARISAL: At least 10 people were injured in a clash between two groups of Awami league in Sadar road area of the district on Monday morning.

Witnesses said that district Awami league president Abul Hasanat Abdullah’s son Moin Abdullah beat metropolitan Awami league president Shawkat Hossain Hiron’s supporter Mohiuddin Khan Babul.

Following the incident, metropolitan Awami league leaders were taking preparation to bring out a protest rally and district Awami league leader obstructed the rally, which triggered a clash, leaving 10 injured.

Meanwhile, police fired rubber bullets, tear shells and sound grenade to bring the situation under control.

Confirming the matter, Barisal Metropolitan deputy commissioner Mujahidul Islam told banglanews, “Additional law enforcers were deployed in the area and the situation is under control now.”
