DHAKA: BNP lawmaker Salauddin Quader Chowdhury was shifted to Dhaka Central Jail from Kashimpur Jail in Gazipur on Monday ahead of the verdict in war crimes related cases.
International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 will pass the verdict on Tuesday.
SQ Chowdhury was taken out of unit-1 of the Kashimpur jail around 5:00pm and transferred to the Dhaka Central Jail amid tight security.
Chief jailor of Dhaka central jail part-1 (Kashimpur) Mujibur Rahaman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
The ICT-1, on August 14, formally closed summing–up arguments from both sides in the trial of the 1971 war crimes, including genocide, allegedly committed by the detained BNP MP and kept the verdict pending for any day.
On April 4 last year, the tribunal indicted him for his alleged involvement in crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War on 23 counts under different provisions of section 3 (2) of the International Crimes (Tribunals) Act 1973.
