DHAKA: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Wednesday (March 25) said BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia would be released from jail shortly as all procedures in this regard were completed.

He said the executive order for the suspension of Khaleda Zia’s sentences would come into effect soon.

The minister made the remarks while talking to reporters at his secretariat office in Dhaka.

In response to an application submitted by Khaleda Zia’s family recently, the former prime minister’s sentences were suspended as per section 401 (1) of Criminal Code of Procedure (CrPC), said Law Minister Annisul Huq on Tuesday (March 24).
