'Dorji Monir' sent to jail

A Dhaka court sent to jail Monir Khan alias Dorji Monir, president of so-called ‘Bangladesh Jananetri Sheikh Hasina Parishad’, in a fraud and extortion case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saiduzzaman Sharif issued the order on Monday.

Police produced the accused before the court after the end of his remand in the case lodged with Kamrangirchar Police Station.

A court on August 4 placed him on four-day remand in the case.

On Tuesday, a man named Ismail Hossain, filed a case with Kamrangirchar police station on charges of extortion and fraud.

Monir formed the so-called organisation titled 'Bangladesh Jananetri Sheikh Hasina Parishad' by defaming Awami League.

Besides, there are also allegations against him for manipulating Photoshop and posting altered pictures of himself with important people of the government including the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Facebook.
