18 Jamaat-Shibir men remanded

DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Tuesday placed 18 leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir on one-day remand.

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court also denied bail and sent another four activists to jail.

Metropolitan Magistrate M Irfan Ullah granted the remand when police produced them before the court with 10-day remand plea.

Some 22 activists of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatra Shibir were held from Mirpur National High School at Mirpur-2 in the city on Monday evening

They were allegedly involved in a secret meeting to plot against the government.
