BNP again seeks permission

DHAKA: Opposition BNP again sought permission from Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) for October 25 rally in front of Nayapaltan party office.

BNP office staff Rustom handed over an application signed by BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi to office of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner at around 11:00am Thursday.

Later, Chief Whip of main opposition BNP Zainul Abdin Farroque went to DMP office.

Earlier on Saturday, chief whip Zainul Abedin Farooque and Member of Parliament Shaheed Uddin Chawdhury Anny applied to get permission to hold the rally at city’s Suhrawardy Udyan, Paltan Maidan or at party’s central office in Nayapaltan.

However, DMP imposed a ban on holding any kind of meeting, procession and rally in the capital for an indefinite period from Sunday morning to avert anarchy and confrontation.
