AL rejects 18-party’s hartal

DHAKA: Ruling Awami League has rejected BNP-led 18-party’s hartal for October 27-29.

Awami League leaders and activists chanted slogan against hartal immediately after Khaleda’s hartal announcement and brought out procession from party’s Bangabandhu Avenue office on Friday evening.

City Awami League General Secretary Mofazzol Hossain Chowdury Maya said 18-party’s hartal is illegal and unconstitutional.

Earlier opposition BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia announced that the opposition parties would enforce hartal from October 27 to 29 if the government does not go for dialogue over polls-time government.

She came up with the announcement while addressing 18-party alliance rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on Friday afternoon.
