Police arrested four people over an attack on justice AHM Shamsuddin Choudhury Manik, a retired judge of the Appellate Division of Supreme Court.
Members of Paltan police station arrested them by conducting raids in different places of the capital on Wednesday night.
DMP Additional Commissioner (Crime and Ops) AKM Hafiz Akhtar confirmed the news.
The arrestees are identified as joint general secretary of Chhatra Dal central committee Maksudur Rahman Sumit, former joint general secretary of Jagannath University unit of Chhatra Dal Md Shakhawat Hossain Khan and members of the Kalabagan unit Chhatra Dal Md Robin Khan and Md Sagar.
Earlier on Wednesday, justice Manik came under attack in Nayapaltan area of the capital.
Sources said a group of people from a procession swooped on Justice Manik’s car while passing through the Central Police Hospital around 4:30pm.
The attackers vandalised his car and assaulted him, and his driver and gunman.
Justice Manik said he was attacked from a BNP procession when miscreants vandalised his car and punched him, his driver and gunman.
Talking to the Daily Sun at night, Justice Manik said he was going to hospital for treatment as his mouth was bleeding and he was suffering from headache following the attack.
Mohammad Rafiq, the gunman of Justice Manik, said, “Sir’s car was attacked in Paltan area around 4:30pm.”
Later, Rafiqul Islam filed a cae against 50 unidentified BNP men with Paltan police station around 11.15pm on Wednesday.
