A man was killed and another five were injured in an oil tanker blast at a shipyard in Narayanganj on Wednesday (Nov 16).

The incident took place around 9:00 am in the morning at Dorkandi area of Murapara union.

The deceased was identified as Nur Jamal, 29, son of Jafar Bepari. 

Of the injured, two were identified as Sahidul Mia and Yunus Mia. 

According to shipyard sources, some workers were welding on a Shanghai-8 ship that was carrying oil when the explosion happened.

Later, locals rushed Jamal to a local private hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Deputy Assistant Director of Narayanganj Zone-2 Fire Service Alamgir Hossain confirmed the matter.
