Ashraful Hossain Alam alias Hero Alam submitted an application for recounting vote of the Bogura-4 by-polls which he lost by 834 votes.

Hero Alam, who was an independent candidate, alleged that election results were changed during the counting of vote.

He appealed for recounting votes of 45 polling stations of Bogura-4, according to Assistant Returning Officer Mahmud Hasan.

He said, "Hero Alam came to our office to submit his application for recounting votes but I was not present at the office that time. Later, he went to Bogura deputy commissioner's office, where the officials on behalf of the returning officer (DC) received his application.”

Hero Alam was defeated by Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal candidate AKM Rezaul Karim Tansen by 834 votes in the by-polls held on February 1.
