At least four people were shot and 11 others injured in a clash between three groups over dominance in Rupganj of Narayanganj.
Those who received bullet injuries are - Md. Sunny, 17, Parvez, 21, Md. Ruman, 18, and Eamon, 22. All of them are residents of Chanpara Rehabilitation Center area, and they are receiving treatment at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
According to eyewitnesses, the clash started 11 pm yesterday in Chanpara area and continued till this morning around 8 am.
The clashes took place between three groups of drug peddlers over establishing dominance in the area.
Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Rupganj Upazila Health Complex Nazmul Alam confirmed the matter.
Md Alauddin, a doctor at Dhaka medical college and hospital (DMCH) said Samrat and Ruman were shot in the leg. Now their condition is critical.
Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rupganj Police Station AFM Syed said that the situation is normal at present. Additional police have been deployed at the scene. An operation is underway to arrest the rioters and recover illegal weapons.
