COMILLA: Rail communications of Chittagong with Dhaka and Sylhet halted as two compartments including engine derailed in Ashoktola area of the district town early Thursday.

Local sources said two compartments of Sylhet-bound Udyan Express from Chittagong at around 1:30am as blockade supporters uprooted fishplates of rail tracks in Ashoktola area.  

Comilla railway station master Shafiqur Rahman told none was reportedly injured in the derailment. A relief train rushed to the spot from Akhaura.
