A Dhaka court today (May 3) granted bail to Prothom Alo Editor and Publisher Matiur Rahman till August 16 in a case filed against him under the Digital Security Act.

Judge Md Asaduzzaman of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court issued the order after Matiur Rahman's lawyer submitted a bail petition in the case.

The court also fixed August 16 for full hearing on the bail petition with lower court record of the case to decide whether Matiur would be given permanent bail.

Dhaka Metropolitan Additional Public Prosecutor Tapash Kumar Pal confirmed the matter.
