Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus left Dhaka for Bangkok today (April 3) to join the sixth Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Summit.
A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying the chief adviser and his delegation took off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 8:55 am, said Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder.
During his visit, Prof. Yunus will address the BIMSTEC Summit and engage in bilateral discussions with leaders of member states.
On Friday, he is scheduled to meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the summit. Additionally, he will witness the signing of two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) during the event.
On April 4, the BIMSTEC chairmanship will officially be transferred to the Bangladesh chief adviser.
The summit, held in Bangkok from April 2-4, focuses on seven key areas of regional cooperation: Trade, Investment, and Development; Environment and Climate Change; Security; Agriculture and Food Security; People-to-People Contact; Science, Technology, and Innovation; and Connectivity.
