Mild heat wave sweeps across several districts in Bangladesh

A mild heat wave is currently affecting several parts of Bangladesh and is expected to persist, according to a bulletin issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) this morning (April 3).

The heat wave is sweeping across the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, Naogaon, Dinajpur, Nilphamari, Moulvibazar, Rangamati, Jashore, and Chuadanga.

In its forecast, the BMD noted that daytime temperatures across the country are likely to remain nearly unchanged, while nighttime temperatures may see a slight rise.

The overall weather is expected to stay dry with temporary periods of partly cloudy skies, the statement added.

The Met Office also reported the presence of a trough of low pressure over West Bengal and its adjoining regions, along with a seasonal low lying over the South Bay.

On Wednesday, the highest temperature recorded in the country was 38.0°C in Rajshahi, while the lowest was 17.2°C in Tentulia upazila of Panchagarh district.

In Dhaka, the sun is expected to set at 6:16 pm today and rise at 5:48 am tomorrow.
