Dhk-Ctg-Sylhet rail service resumes

COMILLA: Rail communications of Chittagong with Dhaka and Sylhet restored after a 12-hour halt due to derailment of a train in Ashoktola area of the district town.

Local sources said two compartments including engine of Sylhet-bound Udyan Express from Chittagong at around 1:30am as blockade supporters uprooted fishplates of rail tracks in Ashoktola area.  

Comilla railway station master Shafiqur Rahman told none was reportedly injured in the derailment.

A relief train rushed to the spot from Akhaura and cleared the line after six hours efforts.

Later, rail services on Dhaka-Chittagong and Chittagong-Sylhet routes resumed at around 1:20pm.
