A local Swechchhasebak League leader was hacked to death allegedly by his rival in Bogura district town on Tuesday (May 9) night.

Deceased Nahid Hasan, 30, was organising secretary of the district's proposed committee. He was son of Jhontu Bepari, a resident of Malgram Dabtola area.

According to locals, Nahid's rival Rony of the same organisation with some others attacked the victim at about 8:30pm while he was gossiping with his friends near his house. They hacked Nahid indiscriminately and fled away.

Nahid was rushed to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College but he was declared dead on arrival, said locals.

Sadar Police Station OC Nure Alam confirming the matter said the body was sent to the hospital morgue.
