Election Commission (EC) has banned motorcycle movement ahead of the Gazipur City Corporation polls (GCC) for 72 hours.

Assistant Secretary of Road Transport and Highway Division Md Jasim Uddin on Sunday (May 21) issued the circular in this regard.

The circular said, according to the Road Transport Act 2018 (32), the ban on the movement of all heavy vehicles, including pickup vans, cars and trucks, will be applicable ahead of the Gazipur election from May 24 midnight to May 25 midnight. 

Besides, the movement of motorcycles will remain suspended from midnight on May 23 to May 26 midnight.

The Gazipur City Corporation polls will be held on May 25.
