Bangladesh Meteorology Department (BMD) predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers in different parts of the country in the next 24 hours commencing 9am today (August 20).
According to the Met office bulletin, light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at a few places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over the country.
Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it said.
The low pressure area over Jharkhand & adjoining North Odisha moved west-northwestwards and merged with the monsoon axis. The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajsthan, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal to Assam across southern part of Bangladesh. One of its associated trough extends up to North Bay.
Monsoon is less active over Bangladesh and weak to moderate over North Bay.
Country's maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded by 36.2 degree celsius at Ishurdi and minimum temperature today was recorded by 25.2 degree celsius at Rangamati.
Country's maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6am today was recorded by 21 millimeters (mm) at Faridpur.
