Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) authority said the minimum wage board for ready-made garment workers will announce the new pay structure by November.

He came up with the announcement at a press conference on Tuesday (October 31) regarding the emerging situation in the garment industry.

BGMEA President Farooq Hasan said the government will announce the new pay structure and all the entrepreneurs in the garment industry will accept it.

The new wage structure will be effective from next December, said BGMEA President.

“We noted with great sadness that the emerging situation in the garment industry took place such a time when the minimum wage board working to announce the new pay structure by November,” he said.

There is no justification for agitation before the announcement of the new wage structure, he added.

BGMEA has proposed a wage of Tk 10,400 in the wage board which the labour union rejected and demanding Tk 23,000.
