The Election Commission (EC) will deploy armed forces across the country for eight days from January 3 to assist the civil administration for holding the 12th parliamentary election in a free, fair and transparent manner.
The members of the armed forces will remain on the street until January 10, according to a letter issued by the Armed Forces Division on Tuesday (December 26).
Assistance Army is offering are:
- Members of the armed forces will be deployed at nodal points in every district, upazila and metropolitan area.
- Members of the armed forces will be deployed in the district, upazila and thana in coordination with the returning officers.
- Executive magistrates will be appointed by the returning officers along with the armed forces team and the activities will be taken according to law.
- With the request and coordination of the concerned returning officer, the area-based deployment plan would be finalized and other legal activities should be carried out as per the request of the returning officer and assistant returning officer.
- Detailed planning including the duration of taking and deploying activities before and after the voting day should be made.
Earlier on December 18, the EC informed the media that the armed forces will be deployed across the country for 13 days from December 29.
The Armed Forces Division (AFD) has given an approval for the deployment of the armed forces at all 300 parliamentary constituencies across the country, EC source said.
