Quota reform: Four killed, hundreds injured in Uttara clashes

At least four people were killed and over 400 injured today (July 18) during a clash between quota protesters and police in Dhaka’s Uttara.

Mizanur Rahman, the superintendent of Kuwait Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital, confirmed the matter.

Earlier today, the central committee of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in a press release called for a peaceful "Complete Shutdown" across the country to push home their demand to reform the quota system and protests the attacks on student protesters.

Earlier on June 5, the High Court declared the government's 2018 decision to cancel the 30 percent quota for freedom fighters' children illegal following a writ petition. As a result, the 30 percent quota was reinstated.
