Long-route bus services resume as curfew eased

Some long-route passenger buses have departed for Sylhet, Barishal and Chattogram from Dhaka’s Syaedabad bus terminal on Wednesday (July 24) as curfew has been relaxed from 10 am to 5 pm.

Besides, government and private offices have reopened for four hours along with export-oriented garment factories.

However, the buses departed for the south-eastern region carrying fewer passengers.

Hanif Enterprise bus counter manager Abdul Alim said that the long-distance bus services started at 9 a.m. today and will continue until 5 p.m.

Earlier, anti-quota protests have sparked nationwide clashes in Bangladesh between police and university students.

In the clashes, at least 197 people lost their lives.
