Jubodal leader's death: Camp commander withdrawn; probe body formed  

A high-level probe body was formed and the commander of the relevant military camp was withdrawn over the death of Jubo Dal leader Touhidur Rahman (40).

The Inter-Forces Public Relations Department (ISPR) issued a notification this afternoon (Feb 1) in this regard.

According to the notification, based on specific allegations, Touhidur Rahman was apprehended during a joint forces operation on the night of 31 January at around 3:00 am from Adarsha Sadar Upazila in Cumilla. He subsequently died at Cumilla Medical College Hospital at approximately 12:30 pm on the same day.

"If found guilty in the investigation, legal action will be taken against the responsible people as per army law," it added.

Touhidur was picked up from his home allegedly by the joint forces early yesterday.

"The joint forces informed us around 11:00 am that an injured man was found in Jhakunipara on the banks of the Gumti River. Police rescued him and took him to Cumilla Medical College Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead," Mohinul Islam, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, said on Friday.
