A clash erupted between security forces and the notorious Kala Lavlu Bahini in Khulna during a late-night operation, resulting in multiple injuries and the recovery of firearms and ammunition.
The confrontation took place in the Arambagh area of the city between midnight and 3:30 am on Saturday (March 29) as joint forces launched a raid on a suspected hideout.
According to the law enforcers, the armed group opened fire upon sensing the presence of law enforcement, triggering a gun battle that left three policemen, one navy personnel, and two members of the criminal gang injured.
Following the operation, 11 individuals were arrested, including Kala Lavlu, Sheikh Palash, Saikat, Mohidul, Rabbani, Ariful, Rajan, Sharif, Imranuzzaman, Ripon, and Imran.
Security forces recovered five firearms, along with homemade weapons and a significant cache of ammunition.
Khulna Metropolitan Police's Sonadanga Zone Assistant Commissioner Azam Khan confirmed the matter.
He said that law enforcement had received intelligence about a secret meeting of Kala Lavlu Bahini at a house near Arambagh Mosque.
"Based on confidential information, we launched a raid and surrounded the building. As soon as we approached, the group opened fire. A gunfight ensued, during which several individuals were injured. We managed to seize multiple weapons and rounds of ammunition and arrested 11 suspects," he said.
"They are continuing their investigation, and security has been tightened in the area to prevent further unrest," he added.
