The National Moon Sighting Committee will convene on Sunday (March 30) evening to determine the sighting of the Shawwal moon and confirm the date of Eid-ul-Fitr in Bangladesh.
The meeting, scheduled for 6:30 pm after Maghrib, will be held at the Islamic Foundation’s conference room at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.
It will be presided over by Religious Affairs Advisor AFM Khalid Hossain, according to a press release issued by the Islamic Foundation on Saturday.
The Islamic Foundation has urged the public to report any sightings of the Shawwal moon through the following contact numbers: 02-223381725, 02-41050912, 02-41050916, 02-41050917 or fax numbers 02-223383397, 02-9555951.
Sightings can also be reported to local District Commissioners or Upazila Executive Officers.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has officially announced the sighting of the Shawwal moon, with the country celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr on Sunday (March 30).
In the Islamic lunar calendar, Ramadan is the ninth month, followed by Shawwal, the tenth month. Eid-ul-Fitr is observed on the first day of Shawwal, marking the end of Ramadan.
