Train kills female police in city

DHAKA: A female police was killed and her son injured under the wheels of a train in Khilgaon Rail Crossing area in the city on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Mukta Rani, 30.

The fatally injured--Arjan Sarkar, 3—was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said Anik Sarkar, father of Arjan.

Anik Sarkar, also a police officer, told banglanews that Mukta was in Rajarbagh Police Line as a constable. She was living with her family at Shantibagh.

Anik said they were returning from their village in Mohanganj of Netrokona district.

He added, after getting down from a train in Khilgaon-Malibagh rail-crossing area Mukta with her son stood another rail-track. The train on the line knocked them, leaving Mukta dead on the spot and her son Arjan injured.

Kamalapur Railway Thana Officer-in-Charge Abdul Majid confirmed the matter to banglanews that police is looking into the incident.
