DHAKA: Bus service of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) will remain closed on March 26 in the city due to requisition of the transports for the “Lakho Konthe Sonar Bangla” event.
BRTC sources said some 500 buses of the transport authorities have been given requisition for the event participants while 50 vehicles have been kept reserved.
The reserved ones would be left on the different routes of the city, if those are not required for the event, the sources added.
According to the sources, a total of 580 buses have been operated around the city. Of them, 160 are plying on different routes to the adjoining districts of Dhaka and 14 are for school goers.
BRTC director (administration) Nikhil Ranjan Ray confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Ministry of Cultural Affairs with the cooperation of Bangladesh Armed Forces Division are going to organize the “Lakho Konthe Sonar Bangla” event at the National Parade Square on the Independence Day with a possible participation of 3 lakhs people to set a new official world record for the largest population to sing the national anthem together.
