Top Yaba trader among 2 killed

COX’S BAZAR: Two persons, including home ministry-listed top yaba trader, were killed in a gunfight with RAB, BGB men in Teknaf upazila of the district early Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Jahed Hossain Jaku, 48 and his cohort Faridul Alam, 35.

The incident took place in Nature Park area of Domdomia under the upazila around 5:00am.

Later, law enforcers recovered two light guns, one locally made pipe gun, 10-round of bullets, nine packets of yaba tablets from the spot.

Confirming the matter, BGB’s Teknaf-42 battalion commander lieutenant colonel Abujar Al Jahid told banglanews, “Acting on a tip off, the law enforcers took position in the area around 5:00am. Then, they gave signal to a suspicious microbus to stop but it tried to flee the scene and the gang of yaba traders opened fire aiming RAB and BGB men.”

In retaliation, law enforcers also opened fire and at one stage two bodies were found in the microbus.

RAB-7 Company Commander Major Rashed confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Teknaf Thana Officer-in-Charge Ranjid Kumar Barua said that the bodies were sent to Teknaf Health Complex.
