DHAKA: The name of the medicines produced by Incepta Pharmaceuticals Limited has been scraped from the probe reports over the tragic deaths of four babies those allegedly died of pushing the medicines.
The four new born babies died at the Tangail General Hospital several hours after doctors allegedly pushed expired injection into their bodies.
No reasonable answer has been found on why the names of the injection, which are believed to have caused the deaths, have been excluded from the investigation reports.
Allegations have also been found that Incepta’s medicines are made up of law quality products.
Banglanews24.com came to know from a nurse, who works at the hospital, during a recent visit that Dr Saiful Islam on 3 October wrote a prescription on the night of October 3, 2013.
A baby was given a 100 milligrams Pentamidine injection Eristom of Incepta for cold related disease and the baby died within 15/20 minutes, the nurse added.
Later, three other babies also died as they were given the same injections, said the nurse. Age of all babies was less than a month.
Following the death incidents, the hospital authorities formed three probe committees.
One of the committees submitted the report after two days, surprisingly scraping both the name of the injection and the medicines were about to be expired in it.
The report also said the babies did not die of mistreatment, mentioning causes of the deaths as respiratory problems, lunge and blood related diseases, less weight and immature birth.
Hospital sources said those injections were about be expired, which the authorities removed away from the hospital following the incidents.
Sources said three committees separately overlooked the matters of injection name and the expiration date.
Denying the allegation of expiration date, hospital assistant director Nur Mohammad told banglanews: “The injection was produced by Incepta.”
Asked on ignoring the medicine name by the committees, he could not give any fair answer.
Incepta managing director Muktadir Ahmed told banglanews on the allegation: “The babies died of malnutrition not of injection.”
