DHAKA: With the theme of ‘Nazrul and non-communalism’ the 115th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam is being celebrated across the country Sunday amid elaborate programmes.

This year, the main national program would be held at Darirampur High School in Trishal upazila of Mymensingh. 

While government and various socio-cultural and political organization are also holding cultural programmes to observe the day.

President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid tribute to the memory of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, recalling his contribution to the nation. 

In separate messages on the eve of his 115th birth anniversary, they said his writings were an unending source of inspiration for the nation. He was a poet of humanism, rebellion and egalitarianism. 

The Shilpakala Academy and Nazrul Institute will organize cultural programs at the Shilpakala Academy to celebrate the day. 

The Nazrul Institute will organize a three-day program from Sunday to May 28. 

In consonance with the main national program, the local administration in Chittagong and Comilla’s Daulatpur, where the poet spent part of his youth, will organize programs to observe the 115th birth anniversary of the national poet.
