No progress in thousand cases of CID

DHAKA: There is no mentionable improvement in more than thousand important and sensational cases which are being investigated by Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police.

Sources said that these are being treated as ‘dead case’ for years but CID claimed that they are taking time as they have to talk with a great number of people for the sake of proper investigation, which deserves time.

However, CID monitoring report also said that there are a total number of 1,756 cases which are being investigated till November 30 last year.

Moreover, 1,036 cases are pending there for more than three years.

Regarding the matter, CID told banglanews that nearly three thousand cases are now remain under investigation.

In contrast, there are only five hundred officers, they said. In this regard, CID officials are struggling enough to finish the investigation as each of them have to deal with six cases simultaneously.

Additional Inspector General of CID, Mokhlesur Rahman said that they have to talk with a lot of people for proper investigation, which takes time.

Mentioning the success in investigation of Bangabandhu Murder Case, Jail Killing Case, August 21 Grenade Attack Case and 10-truck Arms Haul Case, he added that backlog of cases are very few in number than earlier any other time.
