DHAKA: Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB) chief Dr AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury, also former President of the country, on Monday categorically said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has to be accountable for murders and kidnappings in the country.
The politician came with the forewarning while delivering his speech as chief guest at a roundtable discussion organized by Bangladesh Sommilito Peshajibi Parishad (BSPP) at the National Press Club.
B Chowdhury said, “The premier is responsible for these incidents, not Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) as they just obey the orders of the government.”
Demanding disband of the elite force RAB, he said, “People’s government will be established in the country one day. Then, they will bring justice to the murders and forced disappearance.”
The former President further said Hasina did not take any initiatives to rescue BNP leader Ilias Ali though his wife call on with the premier.
Pointing at January 5 national elections, he said, the Awami League government is undemocratic as it was one sided election where many voters did not cast their votes.
Expressing sympathy with the people who lost their relatives, the BDB chief said, “They will join movements against the incumbent illegal government.”
With BSPP acting convener Ruhul Amin Gazi in the chair, the function was addressed, among others, by former chief election commissioner justice Abdur Rouf.
