HABIGANJ: Two minor cousin sisters drowned in a pond at Faridpur village in Bahubal upazila of the district on Sunday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Niha, 8, daughter of Ekhlas Mia and Saki, 7, daughter of Abdul Ahad of the area.

Locals said both the girls fell into a pond adjacent to their house while playing on the bank of the pond around 4:30pm.

After searching for a while, they were rescued from the pond in a critical condition.

They succumbed to their injuries on the way to hospital.

Officer-in-Charge of Bahubal Model Thana Moktadir Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.
