MUNSHIGANJ: Erosion of the Padma River destroyed around 100 feet area of a launch ghat and a newly built Ro-Ro ferry-ghat terminal-2 at Mawa under Lauhajang upazila of the district on Monday.
Ro-Ro ferry services in Mawa-Kawrakandi route halted due to strong current and continuous erosion of the Padma River from 3:00pm.
However, the transports are currently moving using Mawa Terminal-1.
After the suggestions by Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan, the ferry terminal-2 was converted into a makeshift Ro-Ro ferry terminal as Padma erosion destroyed the latter on August 19.
The ferry services in the route would come to a complete halt if the situation continues, sources added.
