DHAKA: Communications Minister Syed Abul Hossain on Tuesday denied to speak to journalists after having a meeting with the deputy commissioners as there was no television camera other than the state-run BTV.

Irked by the absence, he refrained from making any comment to journalists of different print and online media on what he had discussed with the government’s administrative representatives at the district level.

“Only one camera?” the surprised Minister uttered as he came out of the meeting.     
 
Journalists from around a dozen national dailies and online media were queuing up to get an update on the Conference of the DCs, which the Prime Minister inaugurated on Sunday.

This was the second session of the conference with the Ministry of Textiles and Jute, Ministry of Liberation War Affairs and Ministry of Communications.

Jute and Textile Minister Abdul Latif Siddique presided over the conference while State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Captain (retd.) AB Tajul Islam were present.

Sources said that the deputy commissioners discussed issues including highway connectivity between 17 districts of Chittagong and Sylhet with 20 districts of the Southern part of the country, construction of the road form Bilaichori of Rajsthali upazila to Barkal upazila through Gurachori to connect 17 upazila under highway communication, introducing intercity train service of Rangpur, bringing the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority under the district administration, Padma Bridge project and preservation of Nashatpur Baddhabhumi in Laksham.
