FROM PRIME MINISTER OFFICE: The France ambassador Michel Trinquier praised Bangladesh’s role to encounter climate change.
The outgoing ambassador made the remarks while he made a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office on Thursday.
Trinquier said Bangladesh’s success in education and economical sectors is also commendable.
However, he also praised the country’s achievement of total six points of Millennium Development Goal (MDG).
Pointing at the government’s use of $385 billion to fight climate change, Hasina said the developed countries should provide the promised aid.
She also sought further cooperation from France in future.
In another meeting, the outgoing Pakistani High Commissioner in Dhaka Afrasiab Mehdi Hashmi Qureshi called on Sheikh Hasina on the same day.
He thanked the prime minister for her cooperation while serving in Bangladesh.
PM’s principal secretary Abdus Sobhan Sikdar and press secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhury were present in the meetings.
After the meetings, Shameem Chowdhury briefed the media.
