RANGAMATI: A man was shot dead in a gunfight between two factions of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samiti (PCJSS) in Zibtoli area under Baghaichhari upazila of the district on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Shyamol Chakma, 35, resident of the area.

Locals said that the followers of Santu Larma and MN Larma locked into a clash for establishing supremacy in the area around 4:00pm.

The clash led a gunfight among them which lasted for an hour, leaving Shyamol dead on the spot.

However, on information, the members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) rushed to spot and opened fire and dispersed them from the area.

The BGB personnel seized 66-round bullets, 82 bullet shells, one magazine and a mobile phone set from the spot.

BGB Marishya Zone Commander Lieutenant Colonel M Rabiul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.
