DHAKA: State Minister for Home Affairs Asadduzzman Khan Kamal informed the parliament that assets of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s fugitive murderers are being confiscated.
In reply to a star-marked question of Sharif Ahmed, the state minister on Thursday reiterated that all the information with pictures of convicted killers of Bangabandhu has already been sent to important airports in the world in cooperation with Interpol.
Besides, as per the law, the government has taken initiatives to confiscate assets of all convicts, who are still on the run.
Kamal also informed the parliament that the government has kept contacts with the United States and Canada to bring back Nur Chowdhury and Rashed Chowdhury.
Besides, the countries concerned (like US and Canada) were requested not to give the convicts the citizenship.
Responding to another question of AFM Bahauddin Nasim, the state minister said the government has not yet decided in principle to increase the expiry of passport to 10 years from five years.
Moreover, the government has no plan to make passport for 15-year term.
In reply to another question of M Abdul Latif, Asadduzzman Khan said the home ministry is playing key role to prevent women trafficking.
From December 15 last year, 49 women victims were brought back to home from Mumbai of India.
