2 ‘thieves’ beaten to death in Pabna

PABNA: Two suspected thieves were beaten to death and three others injured by angry mobs at Tajiarpara village in Ataikula upazila of Pabna district early Saturday.

Of the deceased, one was identified as Shahidul Islam, 30, son of Belta Pramanik of Singra upazila of Natore.

The injured – Yearul Islam, hails from Natore, Farman Ali of Dinajpur and Bablu Hossaib of Naogaon — were admitted to Pabna Medical College and Hospital.

Ataikula Thana officer in-charge (OC) Nur-e-Alam confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said that a gang of thieves stole four to five cows from Abul Kalam’s house at Tajiarpara village at down. Sensing the incident, family members informed the matter to villagers though loudspeaker from a local mosque.

Then, locals caught five of them by chasing and beat them indiscriminately, leaving two dead of the spot and three others injured.

On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies and rescued the injured.

Pabna police super (SP) Alamgir Kabir visited the spot.
