US, UK, Canada, Aus satisfy with Bangladesh actions

DHAKA: The United States (US), United Kingdom (UK), Canada and Australia satisfied with security measures taken by Bangladesh government.

US ambassador in Dhaka Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat came up with the assertion while briefing reporters on behalf of the four nations after a meeting with home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Wednesday.

Bernicat, Canadian high commissioner Benoît-Pierre Laramée, UK high commissioner Robert Gibson and Australian HC Greg Wilcock met Bangladesh home minister at his ministry in city around 10:30am.

The envoy said that security threat exists in the country though they do not have any specific information regarding the issue.

Urging Bangladesh law enforcement agencies to continue their security measures, the US envoy said her country did not make any bar to its citizen in investing to Bangladesh and involving in business here.

Her stance on Bangladesh is a reflection of policy taken by US government.

Later, Asaduzzman Khan Kamal said top envoys of US, UK, Canada and Australia could not provide any specific information though they informed the government about their security concern in Bangladesh.

He further said their security concerns are based on speculation.

The home boss said that Bernicat stated that the US did not issue any red alert.

In the meeting, the four top envoys expressed their contentment over the actions taken by law enforcement agencies in Bangladesh, he added.
