DHAKA: Eminent journalist Mohammad Nizam Uddin had passed away in a hospital in Toronto on Wednesday night.
He was 69. A press release sent from National Press Club said his demise.
According to the release, Nizam Uddin had been suffering from cancer for a long. He left behind wife, two sons, two grandsons, friends and well wishers to mourn his death.
Earlier, the veteran journalist performed his duties as chief reporter in Bangladesh Observer and consultant editor in state-owned news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sanstha (BSS).
He will be buried on Thursday night (October 22) in Toronto.
Born in Daganbhuiyan upazila of Noakhali district, Nizam Uddin had his masters in journalism from Dhaka University in 1970.
National Press Club president Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman and general secretary Kamrul Islam Chowdhury expressed their deep condolence at the death of Nizam Uddin.
