DHAKA: Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) mayor Sayeed Khokon announced to free the footpaths in city’s Gulistan area.

The mayor made the announcement while talking to the hawker leaders at Nagar Bhaban Thursday noon.

He said, ‘No hawker will setup their makeshift shops on footpaths and roads in Gulshan area. Nobody will be allowed to setup shops even giving bribe to anyone’.

Announcing the program ‘Clean Gulistan’, mayor Khokon said that a committee, comprising of hawker representatives, RAB, police and DSCC officials, has been formed for the overall development in Gulistan area.

DSCC secretary Khan Mohammad Rezaul Karim, chief engineer Habibur Rahman, chief resource official Khalid Ahmed, Gulistan Hawker Federation president MA Kashem and its general secretary Harun-or-Rashid, among others, were present at the meeting.
