‘Satellite contract opens avenue of cooperation’

DHAKA: EU ambassador and also European Union delegation head to Bangladesh Pierre Mayaudon expressed his satisfaction regarding the signing of the satellite contract between Bangladesh and Cannes-based Franco-Italian aerospace manufacturer Thales Alenia Space.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Mayaudon said, ‘It opens up an avenue of cooperation in multiple space applications embracing the marine environment and climate change’.

‘A European company will assist Bangladesh for its first ever satellite. It is a mark of confidence in contribution that European technology can bring to Digital Bangladesh.’

‘It is also a strong symbol of deepening partnership between the EU and Bangladesh being driven by a sense of modernity.’

On 11 November 2015, the Bangladesh government singed the deal with the Franco-Italian aerospace manufacturer for launching Bangabandhu-1 telecommunication satellite.
