FM signs Schmidt condolence book in German embassy foreign minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali

DHAKA: Bangladesh foreign minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali paid a visit to Germany embassy in Dhaka signing the condolence book opened in memory of the former German Federal Chancellor Helmut Schmidt Thursday afternoon.

The FM wrote, ‘On behalf of the government and people of Bangladesh, I express heartfelt condolences at the sad demise of former German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt’.

‘We admire the significant contribution that Chancellor Schmidt made in consolidating post-World War II Germany.’

‘He will also be remembered as the architect of the European Union, particularly in terms of the Monetary System that paved the way for the common European currency – Euro.

‘On this sorrowful occasion, we pray for salvation of the departed soul and convey deep sympathies to the bereaved family and the people of friendly country, the Federal Republic of Germany,’ the FM added.
